Let's Meet in OutEast

LIFT JAX, a Purpose Built Network Member, is an initiative of business and community leaders working to eradicate generational poverty in Jacksonville, FL. In partnership with resident leaders, LIFT JAX focuses its work in Jacksonville’s Eastside neighborhood.

The Eastside, affectionately known as “OutEast,” is located less than one mile from downtown, within walking distance to the developing entertainment district. OutEast is widely considered Jacksonville’s oldest and one of the most important historic African-American neighborhoods.

The flagship strategy of LIFT JAX is the implementation of the Purpose Built Communities® model in Jacksonville’s Eastside.

The nationally recognized model is based on the successful revitalization of Atlanta’s East Lake neighborhood. The approach requires integrated implementation of the model, including:

Mixed-Income Housing: Ensuring high-quality housing that elevates quality of life for all residents and offers quality amenities.

Cradle-to-Career Education: Providing superior education opportunities to ensure growth, learning, and achievement at every level.

Community Wellness: Enhancing the quality of life and increase healthy life expectancy for all members of the community.

Financial Vitality: Stimulating the neighborhood economy, increasing household income, and creating job pathways.

OutEast Neighborhood Tour and Block Party

An Experience Rooted in History, Culture, and Community

On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, step into OutEast, one of Jacksonville’s most vibrant and historically rich neighborhoods, for a Neighborhood Tour and Block Party.

Discover local entrepreneurs, hear stories rooted in community heritage, and enjoy bites from local food vendors alongside lively entertainment. Walk with neighbors and fellow conference attendees through a cultural corridor where history and contemporary creativity intersect, and meet the leaders shaping OutEast today.

During the party, participants will be invited to help paint an outdoor mural led by a local artist, creating a shared, hands-on expression of the power of place and community pride.

We will share additional details about the Neighborhood Tour and Block Party as the conference approaches.
