Kate Gallagher is Senior Manager of Place-Based Investing at the Healthcare Anchor Network, where she partners with a national network of nonprofit hospitals and health systems to advance place-based impact investing strategies. Her work focuses on aligning health system assets with community needs to address social drivers of health and foster healthier, more resilient communities.
Kate brings more than a decade of experience in the nonprofit sector, partnering with philanthropic, academic, and private sector organizations at both the local and national level to advance equitable economic development. Her work spans a range of inclusive economic growth strategies, including workforce development, local business resiliency, community investment, cross-sector collaboration, and community wealth building. She previously served as an economic development practitioner at the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation and as a research assistant for Partners for Advancing Health Equity, a research and learning collaborative based at Tulane University.
Kate holds a Master of Public Health Policy from Tulane University and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management Economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

This session will focus on the role healthcare anchor institutions can play in neighborhood transformation efforts. It will feature leadership from the Healthcare Anchor Network and innovative examples of investments hospitals and healthcare systems have made in community development work. Participants can expect to walk away with ideas on how to engage local systems, hallmarks of developing and strengthening partnerships between Community Quarterback Organizations and types of investments hospitals can make in neighborhood transformation work.
